Elva Mulchrone lives and works in Dublin. She is an alumnus of the Economics and Business Department in Trinity College Dublin and the National College of Art and Design, Dublin where she recently graduated with First Class honours in Fine Art - Painting. She has also studied at UdK (Berlin University of the Arts) and researched at WZB Social Science Research Centre Berlin.

She has just completed a research trip to Columbia University NYC in November 2016, funded by the Thomas Dammann Junior Memorial Trust. At Columbia NYC, she interviewed world renowned professors of economics including Jeffrey Sachs, Thomas Phillippon, Prajit Dutta and Alessandra Casella following extensive research on their respective theories and models. She will produce a body of work in 2017, inspired and informed by the research and interviews conducted. The rhythm in relationships, the role of structures, the cyclical nature of repeat pattern and the consequences of macroeconomic policy form the basis of her current work. It can be a graph, a number, a line, a note or a movement but essentially it is information, which is recurrent, intrinsically complicated and resonant which is her concern.

Conceptually driven, her practice examines the essential component of mathematics in aesthetics; it acts as a response to social science concerns and shows a commitment to drawing analogies between economics, aesthetics and choreography.
Selected recent exhibitions include Context Art Miami in December 2016, VUE-The National Contemporary Art Fair in the RHA Dublin in November 2016 and 2015 with Eight Gallery, The RDS, Dublin (Student Art Awards), The Bourn Vincent Gallery, University of Limerick 2014, Luan Gallery, Athlone 2013, The 185th RHA Annual Exhibition, Dublin 2015, Galerie Jordan-Seydoux, Berlin, G11 Galerie, Berlin and The Rundgang,UdK, Berlin 2015.

Mulchrone has been awarded a number of grants and bursaries including The Mainie Jellet Travel Bursary 2015 to attend the Bassi Brugnatelli International Conducting and Singing Symposium in Robiatte, Italy, The Thomas Dammann Junior Memorial Trust Award 2016 and The Emerging Artist Bursary from Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council in October 2016.

She is included in private collections in Ireland and Germany.
