Eight is pleased to present Tatty Green Lampshade,
a solo exhibition by Cliodhna Timoney
Timoney has fabricated a new body of work in relation to drawing, materiality, play, theatricality, and music. It examines drawing on a visual level, as an archive of emotions, experiences and memories, and drawing with soundscapes.
Timoney began documenting and researching ideas via sound recording as well as sketching and drawing and began translating these into sculptural forms and images. The new body of work is a collection of layered references to music, the history of art and popular culture. Timoney moulds these associations together and in attempt to create a playful and entertaining situation.
Timoney regularly references electronic music in her work and most recently has looked closely at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop and pioneers of electronic music such as Delia Derbyshire and Daphne Oram.
